Maharashtra’s captain, Ruturaj Gaikwad, set an unbelievable example. He became the first batsman in the world to hit 7 sixes in an over and, at the same time, took 43 runs in one over. Both of these figures are nothing short of incredible precedents. He achieved this record in the Vijay Hazare Trophy.
In a Group B game at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium (Motera Stadium), Rituraj accomplished this accomplishment. In the Vijay Hazare Trophy encounter against Uttar Pradesh in the quarterfinals, he established this precedent. He is listed alongside some of cricket’s greatest players, including Sir Gary Sobers, Herschel Gibbs, Yuvraj Singh, Ross Whiteley, Hazratullah Zazai, Kieron Pollard, Leo Carter, and Thisara Perera. In a single over, they each hit six sixes.

In the second quarterfinal game of the Vijay Hazare Trophy at the Narendra Modi Stadium (Motera Stadium) in Ahmedabad, Uttar Pradesh batsman Shiva Singh of the Chennai Super Kings hits seven sixes. Shiva bowls a no-ball in the over and smashes a six on it, giving Rituraj a free hit. In other words, he hit seven sixes and completed 43 runs in the over. After 50 overs, Maharashtra had a score of 330/5 thanks to Rituraj’s impressive effort. Rituraj alone scored 220 runs off of the 159 balls. His inning contained 10 fours and 16 sixes. In first-class cricket, this is Gaikwad’s first double-hundred. The opening batsman for the Chennai Super Kings holds the record for the most runs (42) scored in an over after this innings. Elton Chigumbura of Zimbabwe previously held this record. During Alauddin Babu’s 2013 Dhaka Premier League over, he scored 39 runs. Shiva Singh, who has 43 runs in one over, is tied for the most runs scored by a bowler in List A cricket. Willem Ludik of New Zealand earlier used up 43 runs in one over.
