WhatsApp is set to receive an exciting upgrade featuring a reply bar for status updates, making interaction more seamless without the need to swipe up. Currently undergoing beta testing, this enhancement is poised to be accessible to all Android and iOS users in the near future.
WhatsApp, the instant messaging app under Meta’s ownership, is gearing up to introduce a new feature—a reply bar specifically designed for status updates. This feature, currently in the beta testing phase, simplifies the process of engaging with someone else’s status by providing a persistent reply bar, eliminating the requirement to swipe up for accessing the reply menu. This change mirrors the functionality seen on Instagram, where users can directly respond to stories.
According to reports from WABetaInfo, the reply bar for status updates is anticipated to be available for both Android and iOS users. For those eager to experience it firsthand, beta users can access the feature by installing the latest beta version from the Google Play Store (for Android) or the TestFlight app (for iOS).
WhatsApp Rollout Details
In its current beta phase, the feature is expected to roll out to all users soon. This ensures that once it successfully completes the testing stage and any necessary adjustments are made, everyone will be able to enjoy the streamlined interaction with status updates.
Additional WhatsApp Updates
In tandem with this news, WhatsApp is introducing a new feature dubbed “view once” for audio messages. Similar to the existing “View Once” feature for photos and videos, audio messages sent with this option will automatically disappear after being played. Meta, the parent company of WhatsApp, emphasizes that this addition enhances user privacy, introducing an extra layer of security to audio interactions.
Furthermore, the platform has initiated the rollout of two new features for iOS users: the ability to pin messages and a check for connection health during video calls, both of which will be available on Apple devices.
