West Bengal Weather Update: How many more days of hot and uncomfortable weather? Find out when the weather will improve
The weather will be hot and humid for the next three days. Most districts in North and South Bengal will remain hot. The situation deteriorates in the areas of South Bengal throughout the summer. On Friday, the weather will shift. Rain is expected in coastal areas on Saturday and Sunday. According to the Meteorological Department,
The state will be impacted indirectly by Cyclone Mocha. Today, Wednesday afternoon, the depression will intensify into a cyclonic storm. Cyclone Mocha will shift course and head for the coasts of Bangladesh and Myanmar. The cyclone, however, would have an indirect impact on Bengal. Because of the cyclone’s influence, the North Bay of Bengal is expected to be rough.
Bengali fishermen have been prohibited from going to sea. Fishermen are prohibited from going to sea around the coasts of Bengal and Odisha from Friday to Sunday. The Meteorological Department has urged anyone at sea to return to shore by Thursday afternoon.
The hot and humid weather will remain in Kolkata for the next three days. Water vapour levels will fall, leading to drier conditions. Temperatures will be in the 40s Celsius range. There is no prospect of rain until Friday.
The minimum temperature in Kolkata today, Wednesday morning, is 29.1 degrees Celsius. This is 2 degrees Celsius above usual. The maximum temperature in Kolkata yesterday, Tuesday afternoon, was 38.9 degrees Celsius. This is a three-degree Celsius increase over normal. In the previous 24 hours, the water vapour content in Kolkata’s air ranged from 29 to 84 percent. In the next 24 hours, the temperature in Kolkata will range between 29 and 38 degrees Celsius.
South Bengal is under a heat wave warning in eight districts. The rest of the districts will likewise be subjected to scorching conditions. The Moka effect propels water vapour air towards the ocean. Warm northwesterly air is moving into the state to fill the void. As a result, South Bengal will be hot and uncomfortable for the next three to four days.
South Bengal’s Birbhum, Murshidabad, East and West Burdwan, Hooghly, Bankura, West Midnapore, and South 24 Parganas are under a heat wave warning for Wednesday, May 10. The rest of South Bengal’s districts will similarly be hot and miserable. Heat flow is one example of a condition. Malda and South Dinajpur in North Bengal are under a heatwave warning.
Birbhum, Murshidabad, East and West Burdwan, Purulia, Bankura, and West Midnapore in South Bengal are under a heat wave warning for Thursday, May 11. Apart from Kolkata and East Midnapore, the rest of South Bengal may face heatwave-like conditions. Furthermore, heat wave warnings have been issued for Malda and South Dinajpur in North Bengal.
Friday, May 12: Heat wave conditions in eight South Bengal districts Birbhum, Murshidabad, East and West Burdwan, Purulia, Bankura, Nadia, and West Medinipur districts are under a heat wave warning. The rest of the districts are experiencing hot and humid weather. Malda and South Dinajpur in North Bengal are under a heat wave warning.
Friday, May 12: The weather will begin to shift on Friday. On Saturday and Sunday, it will be partly cloudy in some areas, and rain with thundershowers is expected over North and South 24 Parganas and East Medinipur. In coastal areas, light winds and thundershowers are expected.
Thunderstorms are expected in Darjeeling, Kalimpong, and Jalpaiguri in North Bengal over the next 24 hours. Rain will thereafter persist in hilly locations such as Darjeeling and Kalimpong.
