Models of the iPhone 15 and 15 Plus are expected to launch with 48-megapixel wide-angle cameras and the A16 Bionic SoC.

The iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models are expected to include a 48-megapixel primary rear camera sensor this year. The iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max are the only devices with bigger camera sensors at the moment. Both the standard iPhone 14 and the larger iPhone 14 Plus have identical dual 12-megapixel rear cameras. There are rumours that the non-pro versions of the iPhone 15 series will have a USB Type-C port rather than a Lightning charging port. The company’s A16 Bionic technology, which is now found in the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max, is anticipated to power them.

According to 9to5Mac, Jeff Pu of Haitong Intl Tech Study predicted in a research note the camera configuration and specs of the iPhone 15 versions. The two non-Pro models in the lineup, according to the analyst, would have a three-stacked sensor and a 48-megapixel wide lens. This will be an improvement over the current iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus, as both have a 12-megapixel wide-angle and 12-megapixel ultra-wide camera on the back. On the other hand, the 48-megapixel main camera on the iPhone 14 Pro and iPhone 14 Pro Max has second-generation sensor-shift optical image stabilisation. Apple is unlikely to include a LiDAR scanner or a telephoto lens for optical zoom in the entry-level iPhone 15 models, though.

Additionally, Jeff Pu notes that for the iPhone 15 and iPhone 15 Plus models, Apple might switch out the outdated Lightning charging connector for a USB Type-C port. The most recent A16 Bionic SoC, which is presently only available in iPhone 14 Pro variants, will power the non-Pro devices.

The next iPhone 15 series and its launch have not been announced by Apple, but there have been a number of leaks in the past that have hinted at the appearance and some of the technical details. The normal iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max versions are reportedly included in this year’s iPhone lineup. It is anticipated that solid-state buttons will replace the traditional volume and power buttons on the high-end iPhone 15 devices.
